Safety First!
To be safe,
follow these guidelines to make sure you enjoy the trails!
Helmets
It is Florida law that all persons under 16
years of age wear a helmet while riding their bike, but people of
ALL ages should follow that rule!
-
You never know when you will get a flat tire or
have another issue that will make you fall off your
bike!
-
Often times sticks and rocks can fly up off the
trail and hit you in the head.
-
You may be able to control your bike, but you can
never control other riders, or wildlife for that matter!
-
Making your childeren wear a helmet and you not
wearing one shows a bad example. If you fall and have a head
injury is your child going to carry you out of the woods 3 miles
back to the trail head?
-
Although off rode trails have no cars to worry
about, there are other dangers including loose soil, fallen
branches, rocks, wildlife, and others that can make these trails
just as deadly!
-
Wearing a Bike helemt is one of the simplest
things you can to to insure you safely enjoy your ride!
Plan
Ahead
-
Bring plenty of water and a snack. You do not want
to be stuck 3 miles from the parking area and run out of water on
a hot summer day!
-
Make sure your bike is in good shape and running
in good order.
-
Carry a map of the trails if you are unfamiliar
with them.
-
Carry an extra tube and tools to help you change
it just in case. Make sure you know how to change your tire also!
-
Carry a cell phone if you can to contact the
ranger station in case of injury.
-
Try not to ride
alone. |
