The mission of the WTA is to keep the paved and dirt trails in the Lower Hillsborough Wilderness Parks located near Tampa, Florida open for public recreation, and to provide safe and enjoyable riding, hiking, skating, and running experiences for all users of the trails.

The purpose and scope of the activities of the WTA are:

To help with the planning, promotion, maintenance, development, and rehabilitation of the off-road and paved trail systems within the Wilderness parks sites. Help with the promotion and planning of events held within the park to provide a positive experience for all involved

To help with keeping the community advised and updated of the safety conditions, open status, and any other issues that pertain to the trails and the parks in general (i.e. prescribed burnings, trees down, environmental risks, etc.).

To organize, recruit, and work with other volunteer groups (i.e. SWAMP Club) to maintain a monthly trail work day to make sure the trails remain safe and enjoyable for all trail users while protecting the health and integrity of the natural environment.
